Hello! I'm Dr. Corrine Buchanan, the owner and therapist of Tall Grass Therapy, LLC. Holding the titles of Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT), Qualified Supervisor of Registered Mental Health Counselor Interns and Registered Marriage & Family Therapist Interns, and National Certified Counselor (NCC), I've dedicated my career to crafting a unique space where geek culture and mental health intersect.
My journey in the therapeutic realm began in 2018, and over the years, I've gained invaluable experience across diverse settings such as crisis centers, mobile outreach teams, group private practice, college counseling, and community outreach. This extensive background allows me to bring a deep understanding of life's complexities to every counseling session. Additionally, I have training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy from the Beck Institute, mindfulness training from the Mindfulness Institute for Emerging Adults, EMDRIA-approved Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) training, Gottman Level 2 Training from the Gottman Institute, and am a proud member of SAIGE (Sexual, Affectional, Intersex, and Gender Expansive Identities), a branch of the American Counseling Association.
Alongside my clinical work, I present nationally on topics including LGBTQ+ mental health, therapeutic gaming, mindfulness, and creative approaches to healing. I’ve shared this work at national conferences for the American Counseling Association, the National Board for Certified Counselors, SAIGE, GeekEd, and more. These experiences help me bring fresh, evidence-informed, and compassionate perspectives directly into the therapy space.
My work has also been highlighted locally: I was photographed and included in the Fall 2025 issue of Florida Gator Magazine in a feature about UF’s Mindfulness Program and my role teaching Mindful Living. I was also featured in Episode 53 of UF Health Shands Arts in Medicine’s Shift Change Radio, where Andrew Hix interviewed me about therapeutic gaming and mindfulness.
What defines me is my role as a geek therapist and therapeutic game master. I fully grasp the profound impact that fandoms, gaming, and fantasy have on one's life. Through Geek Therapy, I delve into the narratives and characters that resonate with you, ensuring that your therapeutic journey is not only effective but also authentic and personally tailored.
Mindfulness and embodied presence are not just concepts for me – they’re transformative tools. I advocate for mindfulness in therapy and offer a four-week course designed to introduce participants to various mindfulness concepts and practices. This unique approach enhances the therapeutic experience, empowering individuals to navigate life's challenges with awareness and presence.
Beyond the professional realm, I bring a personal touch to the therapeutic relationship. As a fellow geek who loves video games, I understand the unique dynamics of the geek and gaming communities. This genuine passion creates a unique synergy, fostering a connection beyond the traditional client-therapist dynamic.
Your journey towards mental wellness begins here. If you're seeking a therapist who understands you, reach out today! Let's navigate the tall grass of your experiences together, meeting whatever arises with curiosity and compassion.

As part of the University of Florida’s expanding mindfulness movement — featured in the Fall 2025 edition of Florida Gator Magazine — I teach Mindful Living, guiding students, faculty and community members in developing presence, balance and emotional resilience. My role contributes directly to UF’s ongoing mission to integrate mindfulness into academic life through courses, workshops and research-backed practices that strengthen wellbeing, reduce stress and create meaningful personal growth across campus.
